Caring Senior Service is proud to recognize Liz Torres as the 2025 Caring Leader of the Year, honoring more than two decades of unwavering dedication to clients, caregivers, and her community in McAllen, Texas.

Since joining the company in 2004, Liz has consistently demonstrated what it means to lead with compassion, persistence, and purpose. Known for going above and beyond—often pushing past obstacles others might accept—Liz has built a reputation as a fierce advocate for both seniors and caregivers.

A Leader Who Advocates Without Limits

Colleagues often describe Liz with one defining trait: she refuses to accept “no” when a client’s well-being is on the line.

That determination recently made a life-saving difference for a long-standing client. After a minor fall, the client insisted he was fine. But during a follow-up visit, Liz trusted her instincts and insisted he receive medical attention.

Her persistence proved critical.

At the hospital, doctors discovered the client was severely dehydrated and suffering from an infected hernia that required surgery. Initially, the procedure was declined due to the client’s age and condition. Rather than accepting that outcome, Liz continued to advocate—seeking additional opinions and working with the medical team until a surgeon agreed to move forward.

The surgery was successful, and the client made a full recovery.

Without Liz’s advocacy, the outcome could have been very different.

Putting Clients First—Every Time

While this story is remarkable, it is not unusual for Liz. Her leadership is defined by a consistent commitment to doing what is right for clients, regardless of the challenges involved.

In one complex case, Liz encountered a client living in unsafe conditions due to severe hoarding. Rather than delaying care or declining the case, she took immediate action. She coordinated with local officials to address environmental concerns and ensure the home met safety standards before services began.

Her efforts allowed the client to return home safely—with dignity and the support they needed.

On another occasion, Liz arrived at a scheduled consultation and discovered similar unsafe living conditions. Although the individual could not afford ongoing care services, Liz mobilized her office team and caregivers to spend an entire day cleaning and restoring the home.

For Liz, it was never about whether the situation would lead to business—it was about helping someone in need.

Building a Culture of Care & Community

As Agency Director of the McAllen office, Liz has created a culture rooted in trust, accountability, and compassion.

Caregivers know they have a leader who will stand behind them. Clients experience continuity of care and meaningful relationships that last for years. The results speak for themselves:

  • Long-term client relationships, with many clients remaining on service for years
  • Strong caregiver retention and engagement
  • Consistent operational performance

But beyond the metrics, what truly sets the McAllen office apart is its sense of community.

Caregivers regularly stop by just to connect. Clients participate in holiday events. The office feels less like a workplace and more like a place where people genuinely care for one another.

A Legacy of Leadership

Liz Torres has been part of Caring Senior Service since 2004 and is recognized as a GreatCare Master, reflecting her deep commitment to the company’s mission and values.

Her leadership serves as a powerful reminder that exceptional care is not just about meeting expectations—it’s about exceeding them, advocating relentlessly, and never settling for “good enough” when it comes to the people we serve.
